Application:Alloy ER 308LSi serves as a welding material specifically designed for joining base metals with similar compositions, including AISI 310, 302, 304, 304L, 305, 308, 308L, and 347. In terms of classification, it is akin to ER308L, but it features a higher silicon content. This elevated silicon content enhances the weldability of the filler metal when employed in the gas metal arc welding process. However, it's worth noting that if the base metal dilution results in a weld with low ferrite or complete austenitic characteristics, the weld's susceptibility to cracking is somewhat higher than that of weld metals with lower silicon content.
